This is my eighth post in this blog challenge and I have to admit that I am pretty proud of myself even though this has not gone at all the way that I intended. The written word is imprinted on our souls, whether it was a book that we read as a child or one that stuck with us as an adult. There are so many reasons why authors have made an impression on us. Please take a look at the list below. CW: This post deals with death, Covid-19, and a whole host of feelings that may be too much for people to read right now. Music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember, but I often did not believe I was a part of it. I believed that music was inaccessible to me, that other people had beautiful voices but not me. I spent a very long time thinking that I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. I have really struggled to figure out what my topic would be for today. This blog challenge is good in that it is getting me to write every day, but I have a hard time just letting my thoughts flow without having to justify it. Many of you may know that I am a voracious reader, and at some point during this thirty day challenge, I will tell the stories of what shaped my reading habits and gave me a pure and unadulterated passion for the written word. You may also know that my number one genre is romance. To that end, I find it hysterical that during my teenaged years, no one was finding their happily-ever-after in anything that I wrote. Since one of my many talents includes the ability to make fun of myself, let’s take a journey of what that body of written work included. When I began this challenge, I told myself that I wouldn’t discuss Covid-19 and its effects on me or the impact that it has made around the world. I like to dwell more on the positive, but I also realize that since this is my blog, it is important to me that I am honest and authentic. With that said, please take care of you. If you don’t want to read about this, don’t worry. I’ll probably have something a little lighter tomorrow. Continue reading “UBC Day 2: Standing By, All Hands on Deck” It’s that time again. The time for the Ultimate Blog Challenge that comes around every quarter. In this challenge, my goal is to put up a blog post every day through April 30. I hope I can make it. Continue reading “UBC Day 1: Okay So We’re Doing This and Oh God What Are Words Anyway?” What do romance novels and blogging have in common? Both require the use of words to take the reader on a journey. Both are widely read by many, and both need to hook the reader in and not let go until its conclusion. Continue reading “UBC Day 2: Bloggily Ever After” Challenges fill me with a wild mixture of hope and dread. The hope comes from the idea of starting something new, trying something different. I am not the most competitive person. I don’t like competitions or having to pit myself against someone else. I’d much rather collaborate instead.
